Some things I think about

Our goal should be to provide our children with a happy, constructive, and safe environment. It's all about them!

The basics stuff

Quality of education a must- If growth is hindering the quality of the education of our children, then we must slow it down. A bigger school is not necessarily a better one.

The resolution of wage negotiations a priority- The teachers are the biggest asset in the education of our children. Excellent and dedicated teachers need to be rewarded fairly for their work. They will be happier and more productive.

The “convention”-  The convention and our American accreditation contribute to the strength of our school. Maintaining them is of the utmost importance. But the convention gives us an added dimension. It is our guarantee that we get the best and most up to date french education for our children.

A re-evaluation of the school’s mission. Our school was founded by parents, so they could manage the education of their children as they saw fit, respecting and encouraging economic differences that bring to our school the richness we all appreciate.

Affordability- This school was created for an economically diverse community. The constant increase in tuitions has put this goal in joepardy. We need to make sure that our school remains accessible to most by working with our members to help them find viable solutions.

Governance

Transparency- Only confidential topics strictly defined in the bylaws should be discussed in closed sessions. All other board business should be open to the members of the community and their minutes made available soon after each meeting. A Q & A session should be available to the members after each board meeting. Roll call, voting results including each member's position should be made public so the community can gauge how well a member is representing them.

Open books- Our bylaws indicate that members have a right to request and receive documents from the school's administration. It is time we make sure that a detailed budget with no hidden costs and all other accounting records be made available to the community. Only highly sensitive documents should be withheld with board approval.

Conflict of interest- All board members possible conflict of interest with regards to board business should be made public.

Democracy- All board members should thrive to uphold the principles of our republic and commit to defending the democratic process that should rule our school.
